Tea Shop in Minneapolis followed by an antique shop in Anoka. Alyce worked for Jesse Marie DeBooth, the Galloping Gourmet of the 1920’s. She moved to Houston, TX and was the Hostess for the Garden Room In Joske's Department Store and in Sackowitiz Sky Terrace; the resident manager for the City Federation of Womens’ Club in Houston; taught private art lessons and volunteered as an instructor at a Senior Day Care Center. Left to right: Mary Jane, Arthur, Tom and Alyce Vick. Arthur married Irene Moen, an elementary teacher in the Cities. He died 2 Mar 1962 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Minneapolis. Mary Jayne born in Minneapolis, married Ralph H. Gassier in 1967. Mary Jayne worked for the Northwestern Bell Company for 32 1/2 years. She met Ralph while roller skating in Forest Lake, MN. Ralph served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He graduated from Central Radio and Television School, Kansas City, MO and worked for several other radio and television stations in the U.S. On 30 June 1983 he retired from Air Route Traffic Control Center of the Federal Aviation Agency in Farmington, MN. They live in Eagan, MN. Arthur Thomas (Tom, Buddy) born 25 Dec 1917 married Mildred (Millie) Howell, born 17 Oct 1916. During WWII Tom served in the U.S. Army as an M.R in North Africa, Italy and in the invasion of Southern France. He worked at the Federal Cartridge Corp. in Anoka, MN as a safety engineer and at the Twin City Arsenal where he was in charge of plant protection including the Fire and Safety Department. Tom had a large train set-up in his basement which he thoroughly enjoyed running. Millie served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio where she worked at the World Headquarters for the Air Tactical Command. She worked as legal secretary for Judge Edward Coleman in Anoka and continued in the office with Gerald Randall until she retired. Tom died 20 Feb 1965 from a massive cerebral hemorrhage and is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Anoka. Vick, Carl and Inga (Rasmusen)(Adeline Lillibridge and Vivian Grinna) Carl Vick was born 13 Feb 1896 in Calmar, IA the youngest child of Andrew and Anna (Hoines) Vick. His parents emigrated from Skudesness, Norway. Andrew left in 1886 and Anna left in 1888 with the eldest child, Greta. Andrew and Anna had 7 children. Andrew was a commercial fisherman in Norway. He worked for the railroad in Calmar. When Carl was a young child his parents moved to Burr, MN near Canby. Carl attended rural grade school. He trained in mechanics: steam engineering, boiler repairing, welding and auto mechanics at the University of Southern Minnesota, Austin, MN. Carl married Inga Rasmusen 14 Dec 1914. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary 14 Dec 1964. Carl and Inga had 2 daughters: Adeline (m. Lance Lillibridge) and Vivian (m. Marlin Grinna). Carl and Inga moved to Decorah, IA from Canby early in 1923. Carl worked as a mechanic with Clarence Mestad for 3 years until Mr. Mestad’s health forced him to retire. In 1928 Carl built a new building and continued in the car business. L.B. Willis became part owner in car sales for 2 years (they sold the famous Willis-Overland) until L.B. decided to go into the funeral business. Carl and Inga Vick In 1936 as oil began to replace coal in home heating, Carl added oil heating and sheet metal work to his body shop business. At that time he did home heating jobs only. In the late 40’s he purchased the old Weiser Carriage House (at the rear of First Lutheran Church) and converted it into a shop for heating and plumbing. It was in 1953 that Carl decided to branch out into the commercial field of plumbing, heating and ventilation. Three years later he purchased the building at (218 E. Water St.) from Ervin Peterson. In 1961 his 2 sons-in-law, Lance Lillibridge and Marlin Grinna, assumed more of the business responsibilities. Carl enjoyed serving the community in his field and serving his church and family.
